It’s a unique mix of memories, emotions and connections between you, your partner, friends and family, not to mention the after-party, am I right!? But where do you choose to hold such an event!?
As a Midlands based wedding photographer, I have been privileged enough to be part of many special wedding days at some really beautiful places and Bredenbury Court is right up there for me! I’m here to help you and share what I learned about this awesome venue and how it made Heidi and Billy’s wedding absolutely ROCK! So read on to find out more on Bredenbury Court weddings and what this amazing venue offers!
Set amongst many miles of Herefordshire countryside this unique collection of barns, Orangery and accommodation cottages, offers a pretty cool combination of modern and rustic. Now I am no history buff, but this place just oozes it! This place started out in 1726 as Bredenbury House and it wasn’t until one hundred years later did it change its name to Bredenbury Court when the former owner decedent overstretched himself financially (we have all been there!) and had to sell it on.
In the mid 1800’s it was owned by a man named Robert Johnson whose listed occupation was ‘gentleman’ before the next owner Willam Henry Barneby took over. W.H. Barneby was a very wealthy man and was a descendant of one of the oldest families in Herefordshire. He used notable architects to build on the present Bredenbury Court, blending buildings using Italian facades.
More building work ensued by latter owners and the location even became a school in 1918 and home to Cheltenham Ladies College for forty years. Up until the summer of 2016, the school was known as St Richards School. And again more building work, school classrooms this time, in the 1930’s added further buildings to Bredenbury Court.
Phew, let’s get to the present day. It’s now been totally and lovingly restored to make Bredenbury Court a first class wedding venue in Herefordshire. The gardens are stunning, the vibe is chilled, why would you not want to have your wedding day here!?
At Bredenbury Court Barns, your needs (and budget!) are catered for. All come with one of the exceptional benefits here which is exclusive use!
On the smaller side, Bredenbury Court caters for micro weddings. These are for 30-40 guests, making it budget-friendly, leaving you to spend more of your cash on other things that may have a bit more meaning for you. It also means it’s a lot easier for you to organise, managing family can be hard enough! This will allow you more time to put into finessing the finer details, like your wedding favors or…. honeymoon!
On the larger side, this venue can comfortably hold an event for up to 180 guests. It has a number of spaces to use and I am confident that you’ll find the perfect spot. I found some great spots at this amazing venue to capture some bangers of the happy couple that made them look (and feel) like #Rockstars.
There are so many spaces around Bredenbury Court Barns. All offer different facilities for different purposes, so this place has got you covered! Some of my favourites are –
This awesome space starts with a vaulted barn, exposed beams, and a rustic chandelier, leading to a cosy glass-walled snug. As you move through, the rustic charm gives way to a chic Atrium Bar & Snug with floor-to-ceiling windows, treating guests to their first peek at the stunning views. The Atrium is the perfect spot for welcoming guests and mingling before moving to the Orangery for the ceremony.
As a photographer, I love The Orangery’s simplicity and charm, creating a special atmosphere where all eyes are on you. Bathed in natural light and gentle warmth, it’s the perfect setting for your big moment. Whether it’s an intimate ceremony or a grand celebration with the whole 180, The Orangery’s Victorian doors and historic charm make it truly great for those timeless pics!
In the evening, the Atrium connects to the Oak Barn, turning into a lively bar where guests can relax, chat, and party hard! With plenty of space and comfy chill-out spots, everyone stays connected to the celebrations, even if they’re taking a break from Uncle Trevor’s wild dance moves to ‘Staying Alive’.
Overlooking the Sun Terrace, the Atrium offers wicked south-facing views across Worcestershire, Herefordshire, and Gloucestershire. It’s an impressive yet inviting space that seamlessly links the Orangery and Oak Barn, making your wedding day flow smooth and effortless.
Not forgetting the wedding prep suites for the couple to make themselves look beautiful…or just polish their shoes. After all, you need somewhere to pour a drink, have a sit-down and let the good times roll.
Bredenbury Court is one of few wedding venues that also offer accomodation on site. So no more long nights waiting for one taxi to drive the whole wedding party to their hotels! You can now walk (or stagger) to your own onsite accommodation.
Just a hop, skip, and a dance away from the Oak Barn reception, you’ll find The East Lodge, The Chalet, and The West Lodge waiting to welcome you with open arms. Wake up to the smell of fresh coffee and the promise of a delicious continental breakfast as you reminisce about the unforgettable day you’ve just experienced. It’s the perfect ending to a perfect celebration and hopefully your hangover won’t be too bad!
The chalets can sleep up to 24 of your wedding guests, they use top-class products from The White Company, and even have space for a large communal breakfast, where you can share your stories of the day before with each other.
I have shot countless weddings at venues across the country and I’ve got to say that Bredenbury Court Weddings are up there as some of my favourite! For this wedding, I had the pleasure of photographing Heidi and Billy and what a day it turned out to be…
When Heidi approached me to shoot their wedding it was all about feeling and looking cool. Two people who aren’t overly confident in front of the camera and wanted photos that match their laidback and fun loving personalities to a T. She actually referenced some band photos I’d taken at a gig in Birmingham and said “We wanna look this cool”.
We set up a joint Pinterest board so they could add in any reference images and build their very own mood board. I liked to couples to show me what sort of photos they like. It’s easy as a photographer to get wrapped up in a “style” but I like to adapt and accommodate to what my couples want and then throw my own little flare in for good measure. We quickly found that they wanted that documentary style I love so much, detailed shots and elegant black and whites to boot. Classy as f***!
Throughout the day it was about capturing them with family, friends and guests but for me (most importantly) it was about capturing the moments in between, when they’re together alone, chatting, laughing and being in love. The brief moments in the day when all eyes might not be on them for a split second and they are just themselves.
The day was everything we hoped for (except for some pesky November weather) and we nailed down the images we wanted and plenty of candid moments throughout the day. The last shot on their list was the most fun though, CHAMPAGNE SPRAY BAYBEHHHHH!!!
Billy took it upon himself to absolutely drench me (and my camera) in fizz and luckily that was me done for the night because I didn’t have a spare top (I don’t make that mistake anymore). The shots came out looking unreal, showing off the fun and energetic sides of Heidi & Billy and makes me do my happy dance every time I think back to taking it. I even copied the idea for my own wedding…
I hope you have enjoyed this look at Bredenbury Court weddings and why these weddings and this venue rocks! When I shoot weddings I want the couple to feel utterly relaxed whilst documenting how extra special and unique their day was to them.
